Having provided backing for local gospel stars such as Rebecca Malope, Solly Mahlangu, and Andile Majola and Keke, Mokgethi is coming out of the background and going solo. Her debut album, Umoya oyingcwele, is a very interesting offering. The album is produced by Mokgethi herself and Oupa Motswagae. Backing for other musicians gave me the knowledge I wanted.

By the time I went to the studio to do my own thing I knew exactly what to do. I felt it was the right time for people to know Zaza. Mokhethi says her album,Umoya Oyingcwele, shows various influences derived from people that she has worked with. Though many might think her new in the industry, Mokhethi is the woman behind the mellow voice in the song Namhla Nkosi, part of the Joyous Celebration's 12th album.

Her beautiful and mellow voice made her an easily recognisable name while still with Joyous Celebration. In she was part of the cast of the musical African Mamas as well as Africa. Doing African Mamas gave me the experience I needed for theatre," she says.
